New York City Department of Buildings ensures the safe and lawful use of over 950,000 buildings and properties by enforcing the City’s Building Code and other applicable laws. If you are interested in reading the City’s Plumbing Code, the DOB provides you the opportunity.
NYC Fire Department
New York City Fire Department protects more than 8,000,000 residents from fire in an area of 320 square miles. We coordinate our work with the NYFD to help ensure the suppression of fire in your building.

New York City Environmental Control Board hears cases in which people, businesses, or buildings are charged with violating New York City’s quality-of-life laws. Violations of the Building, Fire Prevention, and Water codes, among others, return to the ECB.
